Restoring the Mauri of the Lagoon

9-11 am Tuesday 12th.

HALO Whakatāne is offering a two day programme centred around Awatapu Lagoon for the end of term 3 holidays. Come down to check out our underrated lagoon and start forming a personal relationship with the repo. Our educators will share some of their knowledge about the local natural environment and the mahi that is going into restoring the mauri of the area.

Topics that may be covered include local bird ID, native plant ID, pest mammal trapping, weed control.

Location: the Hinemoa Street entry to Awatapu Lagoon, where the new pathway is.

Minimum 3 kids necessary, a koha would be appreciated, give what you can.
Please RSVP by emailing haloeduc@gmail.com, as we need to know numbers attending. Include your child's details (Age, name, time/s).

Please make sure your child is equipped with a water bottle, snacks, warm clothing and a rain jacket, any personal medication. And closed in shoes are recommended, such as gumboots or runners. There is no toilet at the lagoon, so please make sure to make use of one before.
