Kia ora koutou,
We've been busy planning a planting extravaganza at the stunning Ōhope Spit. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, the 26th of September from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, to join us as we embark on a mission to get 1,000 plants in the ground. We'd be thrilled to have your support.
If you happen to have your own trusty gardening gear, feel free to bring it along. Otherwise, don't worry about the tools; we've got you covered with gloves and spades. Include your hat, drinking water and sunblock when you pack. And for those who need a little pick-me-up, fear not! We'll have a flask of piping hot tea and coffee ready to keep you fueled, plus a small shared kai to enjoy together.
Our lineup of plants includes tī kōuka (cabbage tree), akeake, kanuka, manuka, tauhinu, harakeke, karo, and houpara (coastal fivefinger).
Please park at the road end, past the golf course and boat ramp. We will gather there for a safety briefing before tackling our task.
To make sure we have enough tea and spades to go around, please let one of us know if you can join us. We can't wait to see your smiling faces amidst the greenery!
Kia ora rawa atu,
The Halo Team
